4. Is Aluminized Steel Type 1 interchangeable with Aluminized Steel Type 2?

- No, they are not interchangeable. It's generally a mistake specifying Type 1 for hot / cold insulation cladding and weatherproofing against atmospheric corrosion and fire, particularly at plants located near the coastal areas. According to CINI's recommendation, only stainless steel (316L) or Aluminized Steel Type 2 is to be used for such conditions.

- Unlike Aluminized Steel Type 2 which is coated with Pure Aluminum, Type 1 is coated with a combination of aluminum and silicon. The presence of silicon reduces the corrosion resistance drastically thereby increasing maintenance costs if Type 1 is used, which does not last.

Aluminized Steel Type 2 is the only Aluminized Steel specified by CINI for hot / cold insulation cladding and weatherproofing against atmospheric corrosion and fire, particularly at plants located near the coastal areas.
